Improving Economic Empowerment in the Assisted Village of PBI FKIP UMBY, KKN PPM UMBY Group 2 Raises “Krispy Baby Tilapia”

Yogyakarta 17/02/2025, KKN Mercu Buana University Yogyakarta (UMBY) group 2 of the Community Empowerment Program (PPM) synergizes with MSME and PKK women's groups in Jetis Hamlet Sumberrejo Tempel Sleman. Since the deployment on January 22 to February 22, 2025, they have successfully made Krispy Baby Tilapia products. According to group leader Mikhael Bornok Pandapotan Sinurat, “In addition to efforts to increase aquaculture, this product is expected to become a hamlet icon while increasing the economic income of its residents”, he said.
KKN UMBY Group 2 consists of 9 students from various study programs including Abdillah Nur Ikhsan (Informatics), Auliana Ayu Sholekhah (Guidance and Counseling), Evangalin Eunike Egu (Information Systems), Henry Crisna Susanto (English Education), Linda Sari (Accounting), Mikhael Bornok Pandapotan Sinurat (Agrotechnology), Renaldi Manuel (Management), Rezky Rahmawati (Management), and Sri Devi (Agrotechnology), while the Field Supervisor (DPL) is Imam Suharjo ST MT.
As DPL Imam Suharjo explained, the deployment of KKN PPM group 2 in Jetis village, which is the fostered village of English Language Education (PBI) FKIP UMBY, in addition to making Krispy Baby Nila, also held a logo making program, packing, P-IRT registration, digital marketing training and held a food processing workshop with a resource person for UMBY Food Chemistry and Technology expert Prof Dr Ir Siti Tamaroh CM MP. “These KKN programs can support and complement the Jetis bamboo village tourism program,” he explained.
During the workshop on February 11, 2025, in her speech Prof. Siti Tamaroh emphasized the importance of product hygiene, fat content, packaging and uniformity of tilapia fry so that this product becomes superior in the market. Present on the occasion were the Chairperson of the Jetis PKK Komsiah, Chairperson of the UMKM Siti Fiki Munawaroh, Chairperson of FORKOM Sumberrejo Village Sri Suparni, and 50 women residents of Jetis hamlet.
Prof. Siti Tamaroh added, “The pattern of consumers shopping for food has now undergone rapid changes along with the development of social media technology, the role of digital product marketing will affect the visibility of consumers in meeting their needs, thus marketing Krispy Baby Nila through social media must be done immediately, besides that considering the location of Jetis Hamlet which is close to the TOL exit, it is also mandatory to have product elatase that can be visited by consumers at any time” she concluded. *) G.SunArdhie
